4th biennial of the symposium LANDEK
08 will take place in August/September 2008 in the grounds of the Mining Museum
below Landek. Also this time, there will be sculptors from several countries of
the world, who for the time of one month will create their stone works directly
in the grounds of the museum at the sculpture atelier.
The sculptures created in this symposium will go to
two sculpture parks - Horní Dvůr in Těrlicko-Hradiště and the grounds of the Mining
Museum in Ostrava-Petřkovice.
These sculpture parks are open to the public all year round.
During
the
symposium the Association will provide the participants with
accommodation, meals
including the accompanying program and will arrange meetings with
culture and
public figures of our region. As usual the artists will visit the
grounds of
blast furnaces in Třinec Steelworks and go down the shaft of one of the
active
mines of Karviná coal mining district. During the symposium, an
exhibition of
works of participated artists will be held in gallerie *Studna* in
the grounds of the Mining museum Below Landek. Following the symposium,
the Association will publish a catalogue and
a short film documenting the whole event. The Association will also
ensure the
support in all types of media (television, radio, press). The logos of the partners will
be put on the promotion banner placed in the grounds of the Mining Museum, on
the web pages O. S., on the posters, invitation cards and in the catalogue
published after the end of the symposium.
The whole project is intended for the general public
in an international scale. The previous symposiums proved that this event of an
international importance enjoys a great interest of artists and the
professional and lay public.
Over the past years the
Association has established a permanent cooperation with important art institutions
(Centre of Polish Sculpture in Oroňsko, Academy of Fine Arts and Design in
Bratislava – Department of Sculpture / Object / Installation), recently also
with City Gallery and the Association of Art Activities Gallery OFF in Piotrkow
Trybunálski, Sculpture by the Sea in Sydney and City Kunsthause in
Hungarian Vesprém.
The symposium LANDEK 08 will create another
opportunity to develop the existing cooperation and establish new contacts.
